HOWELL, MI - It was a successful day for the Warrior golf program, with men's golf taking first place of seven teams at the Cleary Fall Invitational. Freshman Marc Bofarull led the way for Rochester, shooting a 69 en route to a first-place medal in the competition.
"Very proud is an understatement," Head Coach Quin Rice said. "It's great to see these guys come together and play great golf late in the fall season. This is just another step for our program as we continue to move forward."
Bofarull has been on a tear in competition, with a successful week including a solid performance at the WHAC Preview. Bofarull earned the first medal of his collegiate career, and his score of 69 was one shy of the program's all-time 18-hole record.
"As I said following Marc's WHAC Fall Preview showing, he's been playing great golf as of late," Rice said. "It seemed like it was a matter of time before he posted a great round like he did today."
Despite Chemung Hills being a notably challenging course, the Warriors were able to find clutch shots when needed most. Three Warriors - Daniel Runkel, Dominic Gappy, and Todd Colishaw - all scored in the 70s, with Tomas Beltran coming close to the mark at 82. Senior Grazia Russo produced a solid showing on the women's side, placing 14th.
"It feels like we've found a bit more of a groove and play a little better with each tournament," Rice said. "That's exactly what any coach could ask for at this point in the season."
