ROCHESTER MEN'S GOLF SIGNS EVAN DEBRUYNE
ROCHESTER, MI -- RU men's golf coach Quin Rice is announcing the signing of Evan DeBruyne to the class of 2020. Evan comes to Rochester after a successful shortened season at St. Clair County Community College. Evan was named the MCCAA Eastern Conference Freshman of the Year. He was part of the SC4 team that won the Thomas Howard Invitational, shooting his season-low 75 to tie for 3rd individually.
Before SC4, Evan competed at L'Anse Creuse North High School in Macomb, MI. While competing for the Crusaders, he broke the school scoring record both for both 9 and 18 holes with scores of 33 and 72, respectively. He was named the team MVP all 4 years of high school and was the MAC-White MVP his senior year while maintaining a scoring average of 75.
Evan was also part of the Crusaders bowling team and was an honor roll student all throughout his high school career. The son of April and Dave DeBruyne, he also has a sister, Leah.
Coach Quin Rice had this say about Evan's signing, "I am very excited that Evan has decided to join our program. He's obviously a very good player and already has college golf experience. Another local talent who takes care of business both on and off the course, I feel as though Evan is another great fit for our program. I'm very excited to see how he contributes to our team in the fall."
