Men's Bowling earns three wins before dropping in consolation bracket

(Lansing, MI) - The Rochester Christian men's bowling team competed at the Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference (WHAC) Championships on Saturday afternoon, looking to battle through the bracket to claim a WHAC title. The event featured teams battling in bracket play in best-of-5 matches. 

 

ROUND 1

The Warriors would take on the Aquinas Saints in the first round of play. After AQ took the first set, RCU responded by taking the next two games, by scores of 243-187 and 195-186. The Saints, though, would rebound and knock the Warriors down to the consolation bracket, earning wins in the next two games. 

 

ROUND 2 - CONSOLATION

The first matchup of the consolation bracket had the Warriors taking on the Cougars from Cleary. RCU was able to make quick work of the Cougars, winning the first three games: 225-219, 212-196, and 210-171. 

 

ROUND 3 - CONSOLATION

The Warriors' next opponent would be the Fighting Saints from St. Francis (IL). St. Francis took the first game 242-205, before RCU rebounded, by winning the next three games: 181-164, 220-203, and 203-186. 

 

ROUND 4 - CONSOLATION

The Warriors would run into the Indiana Tech Warriors for a chance to make it to the consolation final. RCU won the first set in high scoring fashion, 242-205. IIT responded, winning the next two games to take a 2-1 lead. RCU wouldn't go away, though, as they would battle and win the next two games by a combined pinfall of 31 pins. 

 

ROUND 5 - CONSOLATION

The Consolation bracket final would see a rematch against the Aquinas Saints. The Saints would earn wins in the first two games. The Warriors earned a win in game 3 by a score of 202-171, before ultimately dropping the final game 226-203.
