Men's Bowling competes at the Midwest Collegiate Championships

(Sterling Heights, MI) - The Rochester Christian men's bowling team competed on Saturday and Sunday at the Midwest Collegiate Championships at the 5 Star Lanes in Sterling Heights, Michigan. The event featured 25 team games followed by 16 baker games, with the top eight teams making the final bracket. 

 

The Warriors placed 31st out of the 51 teams at the event. In the 25 team games, the Warriors would earn a pinfall of 4,673 pins and hit 2,986 pins throughout the 16 baker games. 

 

RCU SCORES

Mike Pupin earned the top individual score for the tournament after hitting 1,030 total pins, scoring a high game of 227, and placing 35th. Brian Henry was the only other Warrior to bowl in all five games, hitting 986 pins and recording a high game of 205. 

 

Clinton Harris III and Jackson Vlassis each bowled four games, tallying scores of 700 and 680 pins, respectively. Harris had a high score of 196, while Vlassis tallied a 200. Nolan Matz and Alex Miller were next up for RCU, scoring 581 and 554 in their three games, respectively. Maxxis Reece closed out the RCU scoring with a 142 in his sole game. 

 

REST OF FIELD PERFORMANCES

Following the Baker Games, Purdue University earned the top team spot at the tournament with a total pinfall of 8,707. St. Ambrose, the #6 seed, would topple the top-seeded Purdue University, winning both games in the best-of-3 series. 

 

At the conclusion of the team games, Dawson Peterson from Wisconsin-Whitewater was the top individual bowler with a score of 1,197 and a tournament average of 239.4.

The Warriors are back in action next weekend when they head down to Indianapolis, Indiana, for the Columbia 300 Western Shootout on Saturday, October 11.
