GRAND RAPIDS, MI - Rochester University Bowling is set to compete in WHAC Jamboree #1 and #2 over the weekend in the start of conference play for the program. Rochester will seek a strong team finish after all-time high team finishes last year.
The Warriors have had a solid start to competition this year, including a major splash at the Warrior Classic for the women's program. There, the women's program was led to a first-place team finish, marking the first time in program history that a Warrior bowling team won an event. Last season, the men's program placed fifth of 10 in the first WHAC Jamboree of the year, while the women's team placed eighth of 11.
This season, the Warriors have shown significant improvement, with both teams being among the top teams in the country in several bowling statistics. On the men's side, Rochester ranks 20th in the nation in the Team Composite Performance Index (TCPI). The women's side is even more impressive, with the team ranking ninth overall in traditional format scoring average, and a TCPI good for 14th nationally.
Rochester's last event, the C300 Western Shootout, saw both teams place within the top 20 of the event. The Warriors will compete with several strong teams during the Jamboree, including defending NAIA National Champion Lawrence Tech. The WHAC is as competitive as ever, but Rochester will look to make noise in the conference in Head Coach Craig Woodham's second year at the helm.
New this season, traveling fans will be paid tickets to attend the event. Fans can head to whac.net/tickets to purchase a $10 General Admission or $7 Seniors/Student ticket.
