Warriors Add Four to Men's Bowling Team
ROCHESTER HILLS, Mich. - On Monday, July 27th Rochester College head bowling coach Rick Maruszczak announced the signing of Brady Wynkoop, Drew Pappas, Zene Wynkoop, and Cody Townsend.
Brady Wynkoop
Wynkoop graduated from Oxford High School, where he won a varsity letter in bowling. He led the Wildcats to OAA Conference championships in both 2014 and 2015. Brady contributed to the Wildcats' 2014 Michigan State Tournament championship winning doubles and singles. He was named a second team all-OAA performer as a junior and senior and his top game was a 299.
Drew Pappas
Pappas will bowl for the Warriors after preparing at Oxford High School where he received six letters in golf (3) and bowling (3). In 2012, he won the JV state championship. During his time as a Wildcat he broke multiple school records including best single game performance with a 290, highest series with a 458, and highest average with a 195. In 2013 his best series was an 802 on his way to the OAA singles championship. As a junior, he placed third at states and was an OAA semifinalist. In both 2014 and 2015, Pappas received all-conference while this past year he was named all-county as he led the Oxford Wildcats to an OAA conference championship. As a senior, he qualified for states and placed first in the tri-county.
As a participant for United States Bowling Congress (USBC), Pappas won state tournament championship in 2014. He also placed first in the team event and doubles.
Zene Wynkoop
Zene is transferring from Saginaw Valley State University, an NCAA Division II university, to join the Warriors bowling team and his younger brother Brady.
Before SVSU, Wynkoop bowled for Oxford High School, where he earned a letter in bowling. In 2009, he helped lead the Wildcats to a regional championship. Wynkoop also contributed to the team's efforts in winning the Flint Metro League championships and qualifying for state in both 2009 and 2010. Wynkoop and the Wildcats fell short of a repeat regional championship in 2010, earning runner-up. He bowled a total of three perfect games in his high school career.
Cody Townsend
Townsend will be joining the Warriors after preparing at Waterford Kettering where he earned two varsity letters in bowling. He placed seventh at regionals in 2014 and second in 2015. Both of those regional tournament finishes were good enough to qualify him for the state tournament. Townsend bowled a perfect game this past season on his way to being named second team all-state. For the past two seasons Townsend served as a team captain.
