Men's Basketball earns tight Senior Day win over Cleary

(Rochester Hills, MI) - The Rochester Christian men's basketball team returned home to take on the Cleary Cougars on RCU's Senior Day. The Warriors six-point advantage at the halfway point, proved huge as both offenses were able to put up 40 points in the second half, with RCU narrowly winning that battle 45-44. RCU improves to 19-7 overall on the season and 14-6 in conference play. 

 

FIRST HALF

The game started with RCU opening with a 6-2 run off a pair of shots from James Fisher and a shot from Darnell Turner Jr. The Cougars responded right back, taking a lead with a 13-4 run over the next five minutes. Linden Holder hit a three-point shot, and Dustin Farrow hit a layup to draw the Warriors to within a point. 

 

The Warriors controlled the next 10 minutes, finishing the half with a 23-14 lead. Darnell Turner Jr. and James Fisher opened the run with back-to-back baskets,with Turner Jr. scoring seven of the next nine RCU points. RCU retook the lead in the final minutes, nabbing the final six points, with Turner Jr. scoring four. 

 

SECOND HALF

Both teams got the scoring started right away in the second half with James Fisher and Tymias Williams getting scores. Cleary would go on an 8-4 run to draw within three points. The Warriors would respond right back with an 8-2 run, building the lead back up. Cleay would not go away with a 15-7 run over the next 4:17. 

 

Over the next couple of minutes, the Cougars were able to draw slightly closer, getting the lead down to three points. RCU got three-pointers from Linden Holder and Darnell Turner Jr. with Holder hitting free throws down the stretch to hold onto the lead and win.

 

TOP PERFORMANCES

Five different Warriors tallied double figures in points, with Darnell Turner Jr. leading all scorers with 27 points, while James Fisher (18), Tymias Williams (14), Linden Holder (12), and Tyler Allen (12) led the team. Williams led the team with six assists in the game. 

 

Tymias Williams brought down 12 rebounds in the game to lead the team, with Tyler Allen in second with six. Williams and Allen both had two steals.

The Warriors will close out their 2025-26 home regular season schedule as they take on the Lawrence Tech Blue Devils to kick off the final week of the regular season on Wednesday, February 18, at 5:30 PM.
