Men's Basketball holds onto win over Saints
(Rochester Hills, MI) - The Rochester Christian men's basketball team began the month of December with a conference matchup against the Saints from Aquinas. The Warriors used a 10-point advantage in the first half and 48% shooting from the field as they moved to 3-1 in conference play and 7-2 overall.
FIRST HALF
Four of the first six points in the game for the Warriors would come from a pair of James Fisher dunks with Tyler Allen also getting in on the scoring. The teams would start trading points as RCU would earn a 12-10 lead. AQ took their first lead of the game at 12:08 on a three-pointer, before Dustin Farrow retook the lead on the following possession with an "and-1". The Saints would then go on a 7-2 run going into the media timeout.
Tymias Williams scored the next five RCU points to spark a 14-4 run as the Warriors took the lead for the remainder of the half. James Fisher and Ashton Goul tallied buckets in the final two minutes of the half and the Saints tallied a tip in just before the buzzer to bring the RCU lead down to 10 points.
SECOND HALF
Both teams opened the second half with a bucket, as Tymias Williams recorded a three-pointer. Williams' three sparked a short 9-3 run over two minutes. Ashton Goul added a three of his own just before the under-15 media timeout. The two teams continued to battle back-and-forth with AQ slowly working their way back into the match. Linden Holder, Mason Parker and James Fisher combined for seven points on three quick possessions with Holder and Parker grabbing steals.
Coming out of the under-10 timeout, Aquinas put on a 11-3 run to work the Warriors lead back down to eight points. Scoring seven more points off of free throws saw Aquinas bring the lead down to five just following the final media timeout. Tyler Allen would grab four points and Tymias Williams netted a bucket to give RCU a four point advantage. A Saints layup and foul brought the lead down to 2 points before a loose ball ran the time out.
TOP PERFORMERS
Tymias Williams led all scorers in the game with 24 points, while Linden Holder was second on the team with 11, while Tyler Allen and James Fisher both scored 10. Holder led the team with five assists in the game, with Fisher tallying three.
Fisher would surpass the 1,000-point scoring mark with his fourth bucket at 16:12 in the second half, becoming the 10th Warrior since 2011 to hit the milestone.
Tymias Williams led the way on the defensive end with 13 rebounds (nine defensively), with five blocks and two steals. James Fisher recorded eight rebounds as well.

The Warriors will stay home at the Garth Pleasant Arena for a matchup on Saturday, December 6, when they take on the Indiana Tech Warriors with a 3 PM tipoff.
