Men's Basketball drops tight contest with Lourdes

(Sylvania, OH) - The Rochester Christian men's basketball team headed to Sylvania, Ohio for a matchup against fellow 5-1 team Lourdes Grey Wolves. A tightly contested game throughout, Lourdes was able to earn a five-point victory as they move to 2-1 in WHAC play. 

 

FIRST HALF

Tyler Allen grabbed the first couple points for the Warriors, before Dustin Farrow added four points. The two team started to score back and forth with Tymias Williams giving RCU the lead on a couple of occasions. Lourdes would hold a slim lead though, as they responded to each of the RCU scores. 

 

Jamil Mashhour and Ashton Goul were able earn the lead with just under five minutes before the end of the half. Following scores from James Fisher and Dustin Farrow, Lourdes would score the final seven points to end the half.

 

SECOND HALF

Linden Holder opened the second half with a bucket for RCU. Following a couple minute scoreless streak for the Warriors, Tymias Williams broke up a 9-0 run for the Grey Wolves to bring the lead back to single digits. James Fisher had a steal and a dunk, which forced a Lourdes timeout. RCU slowly would crawl their way back into the game. 

 

James Fisher and Jamil Mashhour brought the Lourdes' lead down to five points right before the under-10 media timeout. Linden Holder and Ashton Goul would hit multiple three's that would keep RCU within 1-2 possessions. Lourdes was able to keep the Warriors out of the game with their free throws down the stretch.

 

TOP PERFORMERS

Three different Warriors scored in double figures as they were led by James Fisher with 17, Tymias Williams with 15 and Linden Holder with 13. Williams added six assists in the game as well. 

 

Tymias Williams and James Fisher each recorded a double double with Williams grabbing 11 rebounds, while Fisher brought down 10. Williams also led with three steals while him and Farrow each had two blocks. 

 

UP NEXT

The Warriors will be off for Thanksgiving break and will be back on the court on December 3 when they host the Saints from Aquinas at 7:30 PM.
