Men's Basketball earns fifth win of the season to finish up the Faith Works Classic 2-0

(Rochester Hills, MI) - The Rochester Christian men's basketball team continued play at the Faith Works Classic as they went up against the Trolls from Trinity Christian. RCU outscored the Trolls in both halves en route to the 22-point win and their fifth of the season. 

 

FIRST HALF

Tyler Allen opened the scoring with a first-possession three-pointer, and James Fisher would tally a block and a layup on the ensuing possession. The Trolls tallied a couple of three's over the next couple of minutes and would build a four-point lead, their largest of the game. Linden Holder and Jamil Mashhour responded with a three of their own, and Darnell Turner Jr. recorded an "and-1" to flip the game and give RCU a five-point lead. 

 

A couple of scoreless minutes would see the teams trade points before the under-10 timeout. Tre Walker III grabbed his first points coming out of the timeout with a three-pointer. Darnell Turner Jr. added six of the next 10 RCU points to push the lead back to three points. Linden Holder, Tymias Williams, and Turner Jr. added points before the end of the half. 

 

SECOND HALF

Tymias Williams scored the first four points of the second half for the Warriors. RCU would go on an 8-0 run to get the teams to the under-15 timeout. TCC went on a 6-1 run to bring the lead back down to 10. Jmail Mashhour and Mason Parker added five points. 

 

The Trolls would get the lead down to nine points multiple times throughout the half, but RCU responded each time. Darnell Turner Jr. scored for the 68-57 lead, which sparked a 19-8 run for the Warriors to close out the game. 

 

TOP PERFORMERS

Tymias Williams led RCU with 20 points in the game, shooting the ball at a 57.1% clip. Three other Warriors tallied double-figures, with Darnell Turner Jr. leading the bench scoring with 15 points, while James Fisher and Jamil Mashhour scored 13 and 10 points, respectively. Linden Holder assisted on 10 RCU baskets in the game. 

 

Tymias Williams was the top rebounder for RCU with nine rebounds, while Jamil Mashhour had seven, and Dustin Farrow recorded six. Williams, Mashhour, and James Fisher each recorded two blocks. 

 

UP NEXT

The Warriors will return to WHAC play next Saturday, November 22, when they host the Racers from Northwestern Ohio with a 3 PM tipoff.
