Men's Basketball closes out the Chick-fil-A classic with win over Saint Francis
(Rochester Hills, MI) - The Rochester Christian men's basketball team rounded out the Chick-fil-A of Auburn Hills Classic on Saturday afternoon and took down the Saint Francis Cougars, 96-84. A strong 50-point first half propelled the Warriors to the 12 point win over the Crossroads League team.
RCU improves to a 3-1 record, while SFU falls to 3-3.
FIRST HALF
Dustin Farrow started the game with hot hand, scoring five of the first seven points to get the Warriors offense rolling. After the teams traded a couple of points, Tymias Williams scored seven straight points for the Warriors, including converting an "and-1". As the two teams continued to trade points an, 8-2 run by James Fisher and Farrow would give RCu a 30-20 lead over the Cougars at the under-10 media.
Throughout the rest of the half RCU was able to keep a double-digit lead, in part to baskets form Ashton Goul and Darnell Turner Jr. Linden Holder would add into his career day passing with a three point bucket.
SECOND HALF
The Cougars would not go away in the second half, keeping the pressure on the Warriors. Jamse Fisher opened the scoring for RCU up in the second half and Dustin Farrow and Tymias Williams added four more points as well. Williams would score on three straight Warrior posessions, building the lead out to 16. Darnell Turner Jr., Tyler Allen, and Jamil Mashhour all got in on the scoring with Turner Jr. and Mashhour hitting "3's".
The Warriors were able to keep holding off the Cougars comeback attempts throughout the final 10 minutes as they responded to each bucket SFU scored.
TOP PERFORMERS
Tymias Williams scored the first 30-point game of the season for RCU, doing so on 60% shooting. James Fisher and Dustin Farrow added in the scoring with 16 and 15 points, respectively. Linden Holder set a new program record for assists with 15 on the afternoon, including nine of them coming in the first half.
Tymias Williams added to his scoring totals with 10 rebounds to complete the double-double, while James Fisher would be right behind him in that column with nine rebounds.

The Warriors are back in action next weekend for the Faith Works Classic at home at the Garth Pleasant Arena. The Warriors will take on #RV Rio Grande on Friday at 6 PM, before taking on Trinity Christian on Saturday at 1 PM.
