Men's Basketball drops tight Exhibition contest with NCAA D1 Oakland
(Rochester Hills, MI) - The Rochester Christian men's basketball team traveled down the road for an exhibition matchup against NCAA Division 1 Oakland University. OU used a strong first half, outscoring RCU by 10 points to come away with the exhibition win.
FIRST HALF
The first RCU points came from Tymias Williams, with Linden Holder adding a 3-pointer for the next RCU basket. The lead would change hands four times over the next couple of minutes, with Oakland taking the lead at the 13:38 mark. The Warriors would continue to battle and stay within single digits for most of the half. Holder would be the leading scorer for RCU at the midway point in the game.
SECOND HALF
James Fisher gave RCU the first points in the second half, with Dustin Farrow adding the next four points. The Golden Grizzlies were able to build their lead up to 17 points at 15:05 for the biggest lead of the game. The Warriors started to slowly crawl their way back into the game, getting points from Tyler Allen, Tymias Williams, and Darnell Turner Jr. Allen and Turner Jr. combined for eight straight Warriors points to get the lead back down to single-digits. Jahmil Mashhour, Linden Holder, and Mason Parker each hit a couple of free throws to draw the Warriors to within six points, but the OU offense would seal the game, making their final eight free throws.
TOP PERFORMERS
Tymias Williams led the Warriors with 22 points on 8-12 shooting. He added seven rebounds and eight assists as well. Linden Holder and James Fisher also scored in double figures with 17 and 10 points, respectively. Fisher added a pair of blocks, while Darnell Turner Jr. came off the bench with a pair of steals.
UP NEXT
The Warriors will have a week off before hosting Bethel (IN), Saint Francis (IN), and Michigan-Dearborn for the Chick-fil-A Classic on November 7 and 8, with RCU facing Bethel (IN) on the 7th at 6 PM.
