(Circleville, OH) - The Rochester Christian baseball team began a four-game series against Ohio Christian on Friday. A low-scoring affair in game one of the series saw OCU come away with a 1-0 victory, before the Trailblazers earned a 5-0 win in game two. RCU moves to 3-5 on the season.
GAME 1 - OHIO CHRISTIAN 2, ROCHESTER CHRISTIAN 1
Matthew Redmond (1-2) pitched the first four innings of the game, allowing five hits with two earned runs and four strikeouts.
OCU got on the board right away in the bottom of the first, piecing together a hit by pitch, a walk, and a double steal. The Warriors would get on the board and tie the game up in the third inning on a Cael Kuzinski RBI single to score Nathaniel Crane. The Trailblazers would retake the lead in the bottom half of the inning with an infield single.
The fifth inning would see the Warriors threaten to tie and take the lead, but would ultimately leave the bases loaded.
Will Pflaum finished out the final two innings, allowing only two hits, while also striking out two batters.
GAME 2 - OHIO CHRISTIAN 5, ROCHESTER CHRISTIAN 0
Matthew Shakotko (0-2) started on the mound for RCU, pitching the first two innings, allowing five hits, five runs, while striking out three batters.
Ohio Christian would once again take an early lead in the game, putting up three runs on two hits in the second inning, before putting up another two runs in the third inning.
The Warriors would leave a runner on base in both the second and third innings. RCU would go down in order over the next several innings, before attempting a late comeback in the seventh, when they would leave the bases loaded.
Lance Jones pitched the final four innings, allowing only two baserunners on walks, and struck out six batters.
