LIMA, Ohio - Following a reschedule, the Warriors fell to the Northwestern Ohio Racers in two games on the road on Monday afternoon. Leading RCU's hitting efforts were Beau Falkenhagen and Luke Jayaraman, who each posted two hits during the series. Jayaraman scored RCU's run during the matchups.
THE RUNDOWN
The Warriors weren't finding much success hitting-wise in the first game of the doubleheader, but got a single to go from Falkenhagen down the middle in the top of the first. However, a double play by the Racers ended RCU's first inning before it could get going. The Warriors answered back with their own double play in the bottom of the opener, with Falkenhagen picking up a ground ball and firing it to Cael Kuzinski at second, before Kuzinski zipped the ball over to Tony Grazioli.
The Racers got on the board in the bottom of the third, singling to left field with two runners advancing to home after walks earlier in the inning. The Warriors got another base hit in the fourth, but fell victim to another double play that prevented any runners from getting into scoring position. UNOH added two more runs in the bottom of the fifth, both on singles, helped by stolen bases during the inning. In the sixth, the Warriors had their best chance to do real damage to the Racer lead, loading up the bases after two early outs. However, UNOH was able to pick up the force out at second to kill RCU's momentum. RCU's chance ended in the seventh inning, with three quick outs and a final score of 0-4, Racers.
The second game saw the Racers jump out to a 2-0 lead following a fielding error by the Warriors, putting RCU in a bases-loaded situation. However, two clutch strikeouts by Drew Schultz helped RCU escape the inning before more damage could be done. In the second inning, Luke Jayaraman helped RCU get on the board following a single to right field and a stolen second base. On an error, Jayaraman advanced to home for the score. In the bottom of the second, the Racers added two more runs to push the lead out to 4-1.
The Racers began to find their stride on the Warriors, scoring four runs in the bottom of the fourth inning after consecutive doubles to open the period. Offensively, RCU wasn't able to recover the lost ground, getting struck out in the fifth and sixth innings. In the final two innings, the Racers would score three more runs and end the game with a final score of 11-1 in seven innings.
