Warriors Graduate Nick Gajewski To Make Professional Pitching Debut

Graduate Warriors pitcher Nick Gajewski is set to make his professional debut on Sunday for the Birmingham-Bloomfield Beavers of the USPBL at Jimmy John's Field.

"It really means a lot to me," Gajewski said. "It shows me that all the time and work I've put in over the course of the last three years has really made the difference and gotten me to where I want to be."

Gajewski pitched several strong games for the Warriors during the year, averaging 8.42 strikeouts a game in his final season in Rochester. During his senior day, the former Warrior mentioned the goal of playing professionally after his collegiate career.

"Nick has been one of hardest workers in our program for the last three years," Warrior Head Coach Scott Kunert said. "He is very coachable and will learn very quickly from his coaches and teammates. I am very proud of his improvements not only as a player, but as a person as well."

Gajewski is slated to face off against the Utica Unicorns for the first game of his professional career. The game is scheduled for a 1:05 PM start on May 21.

"It's a great feeling to know I've accomplished this, but I still know that there's more work to be done," Gajewski said. "For now, I'm going to take things one step at a time and get one percent better every day to keep this going."
