Baseball Swept By UNOH Over Two Days

Hussein Murray/Rochester University

ROYAL OAK, MI - Warrior Baseball was swept by the UNOH Racers on Sunday and Monday, with Rochester unable to find a spark during the series.

Game 1 - L Final: 3-27 (Seven Innings)

The first game was rough for the Warriors, as early errors allowed the Racers to build a big lead early on. The first inning was tightly contested, but Rochester would be unable to get the Racers out on a ground ball. UNOH capitalized on the error with four runs during the inning.

During the opening inning, Rochester's Dylan Fleming and Luke Jayaraman got on base, setting up a Nick Czajka two-RBI double that got Rochester two scores. Both teams remained scoreless in the second inning, but from there it was all UNOH, as the Racers scored no less than three runs from the fourth inning to the seventh.

In the fourth inning, a Deyante Fossett RBI double ran in catcher Adriano Murillo.

Game 2 - L Final: 4-5 (Nine Innings)

The second game played much closer for Rochester, as Czajka hit an RBI single in the third inning to get Fleming home for the first score between either team. After a single score by the Racers in the fifth inning, Fleming scored again by capitalizing on a fielding error by UNOH.

The seventh inning was huge for the Racers, who used a Warrior error to find momentum. The Racers scored four runs during the inning, with Rochester reeling. Fleming continued his great baserunning performance during the bottom of the seventh, where he took advantage of a catcher's error to get the Warriors within two.

After a great two-inning defensive stand, Rochester's Colton Maher scored a run after an error by the Racers' third baseman to get the game within one. With two outs, Rochester needed a spark to keep the game alive. However, that wouldn't be the case, as the Racers' would strike out the Warriors on a controversial strike call.

Game 3 - L Final: 2-8 (Seven Innings)

Rochester couldn't seem to find an answer early on in the third game, as errors plagued the Warriors. The Racers scored six runs in the first three innings, giving Rochester a hard hill to climb the rest of the game.

Czajka scored the Warriors' first run of the day, hitting an RBI double for Dominic Scalzo. Attempting to run to third, Czajka would be caught by UNOH's third baseman. After another score by the Racers in the fourth, Deyante Fossett answered with an RBI single for Luke Jayaraman.

The Racers scored another run in the fifth inning, and Rochester would be unable to find another answer despite preventing any more scoring for UNOH during the game.

Game 4 - L Final: 6-13 (Five Innings)

The series' final game would end in five innings due to heavy rain. Early on, it looked like the Warriors found a rhythm as the team scored five runs in the first inning. Aidan Alspaugh hit an RBI double to get Jayaraman to home, and Rochester loaded up the bases.

After four walks from UNOH, Rochester took a 5-0 lead entering the second inning. However, that lead was short-lived as UNOH responded with five runs including a homer in the top of the second. Alspaugh recorded another RBI to keep RU leading momentarily, but UNOH went on a third-inning run.

After taking an 8-6 lead in the third, UNOH would score another five runs in the fifth inning. Before the inning could end, heavy rain started coming down at Memorial Park, leading to the game being called by the umpires and coaches.
