ROYAL OAK, MI - Warrior Baseball could not win against the Lourdes Gray Wolves during the first doubleheader between the two teams on Friday, with Rochester being defeated 24-5 and 7-6 (OT) in both games.
The Warriors struggled to contain the Gray Wolves in the first game, with Lourdes getting a 10-run third inning to open up the game. Rochester saw RBIs from Lucas Bateman, Luke Jayaraman, and Brendan DeFlorio.
The second contest was much closer, with Rochester and Lourdes tied in the first inning after Bateman and DeFlorio recorded RBIs, getting Jayaraman and Dylan Fleming to the bag. During the 5th and 6th innings, it seemed like the Gray Wolves were going to run away with the game after four runs unanswered.
Rochester got a spark from Aidan Alspaugh, who hit a single left-field RBI for Deyante Fossett. Colton Maher then sacrifice-flied for DeFlorio. Fleming tied the game with a 2 RBI single for Alspaugh and Dominic Scalzo.
Both teams remained scoreless in the ninth inning, but Lourdes would get a run in the top of the 10th and quickly out the Warriors to seal the game.
Both teams will face off again in Memorial Park on Sunday.
