Baseball Gets First Win Of WHAC Play Against UM Dearborn, Goes 1-1 In Doubleheader

ROYAL OAK, MI - Warrior Baseball got its first win of WHAC play on Monday afternoon, defeating UM-Dearborn 9-6 after a huge sixth inning. The Wolverines would avenge their loss in the following game, winning 6-2.

GAME 1 - W Final: 9-6

Rochester started the game down after an RBI single from the Wolverines but quickly bounced back in the 2nd and 3rd innings. In the 2nd inning, Deyante Fossett continued his strong weekend with a left-field single, and Lucas Bateman scored on a throwing error.

The 3rd inning saw two Warrior runs, with Brendan DeFlorio scoring off a Nick Czajka RBI. Donovon Galovich scored on a throw to give the Warriors a 3-1 lead at the top of the third. Between the first and third innings, pitcher Nick Gajewski put on a solid showing.

UM-Dearborn found some momentum in the 3rd and 5th innings, preventing any scores from the Warriors while getting two runs of their own. However, the 6th inning would turn the game on its head, as Rochester scored six runs.

Adriano Murillo got things started with a single that got Anthony Clements to home plate. Multiple Warriors got scores off great baserunning, including Mason Young and Dominic Scalzo who capitalized on errors by the Wolverines.

UM-Dearborn scored three runs in the sixth and seventh innings, but Rochester was able to get the stop it needed to secure its first conference win of the season, 9-6.

GAME 2 - L Final: 2-6

Scoring was hard to come by in the first seven innings for either team, with each team only producing one run in that period. The Wolverines scored a run in the bottom of the second, but neither team could find much offense.

Fossett got another RBI for Bateman in the top of the 6th, tying the game. In the 8th inning, Rochester scored another run but at a cost, as UM-Dearborn made a triple-play. From there, it was all Wolverines, as the home team scored five runs in the 8th inning to put the Warriors away.
