(Dearborn, MI) - The Rochester Christian men's hockey team traveled down to the campus of Michigan-Dearborn for the first round of the Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference (WHAC) tournament. The Warriors would take on a familiar Lawrence Tech Blue Devil team that they faced last weekend. The Blue Devils scored the first three goals of the game as they advanced to the conference semifinals.
Both teams played tight, with the score 0-0 for most of the first period, and Lawrence Tech held a 29-2 shot advantage. LTU scored with five minutes remaining in the period to make it 1-0.
The score remained 1-0 for most of the second period as neither team could get a goal past the opposing keeper. Lawrence Tech grabbed a pair of goals in the final five minutes to take a 3-0 lead.
The final period saw the Warriors get on the board just 2:27 into the period, taking advantage of a power-play opportunity. Brody Vachon found Kyle Hauer to score RCU's sole goal of the game. LTU was able to tack on four more goals to end the game.
Nicholas Spognardi (2-15-1) started the game in net for the Warriors, making 70 saves against the 77 shots he faced.
