(Rochester Hills, MI) - The Rochester Christian hockey team played a trio of Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference (WHAC) games this weekend, starting with a home-and-home series with Cleary on Friday and Saturday, before closing out the weekend with a home game against Lawrence Tech.
GAME 1 - CLEARY 10, RCU 0
The Cougars controlled the first game of the two-game series right from the start as they were able to put up six goals in the first 20 minutes.
The second period saw Cleary score three times before adding a goal in the third period.
In total, Cleary outshot the Warriors, 48-22, on the evening. Neither team was able to grab a power play goal on the night, with Cleary going 0-3, while RCU went 0-2.
Trey Hoffmann (0-4-0) started the first period for RCU, saving 18 shots of the 24 he faced. Cody Pachota played the final 40 minutes in net for the Warriors, saving 20 of his 24 shots.
GAME 2 - CLEARY 7, RCU 0
Cleary would once again grab the early lead and be able to hold onto it, scoring twice in the first, three times in the second, before adding another pair in the third.
After the tight first quarter, Cleary's offense picked up the shots, outshooting RCU by a total of 55-25 shots on the evening. For the second straight night, neither team was able to take advantage of a man up chance, with RCu going 0-5 and Cleary going 0-4.
Nicholas Spognardi (2-3-1) played the full 60 minutes in net for the Warriors, making 48 saves.
GAME 3 - LAWRENCE TECH 9, RCU 2
Lawrence Tech was able to grab the first period lead, putting six goals in the back of the net, including the last one coming on a man up opportunity.
RCU score with 4:13 remaining in the period off the stick of Caden Pachota and assists coming from Hayden Wilson and Ryan Long. LTU would get the goal back nearly three minutes later.
LTU grabbed a pair of goal in the final 20 minutes, with RCU's goal splitting the two. Kyle Hauer got on the board with a goal, while Zachary Domanski and Shaun Zatelli earned assists.
The Blue Devils dominated the shot department for the evening, leading the Warriors 78-18. Lawrence Tech would go 1-4 on power play opportunities, while RCU went 0-5.
Cody Pachota (1-1-0) played the final 60 minutes for the Warriors on the weekend. Pachota saved a season-high 69 shots in the match.
UP NEXT
The Warriors will be back on the ice next weekend when they will play a home-and-home series with Michigan-Dearborn on November 7 and 8. The Warriors will be on the road on the 7th with a 7 PM puck drop, before hosting the Wolverines on the 8th with an 8 PM start time.
